Roshan Kumar

I build data infrastructure at SCA Technologies, where I work on supply-chain analytics for large restaurant and retail networks. Day to day that means PySpark and Databricks pipelines, fact-table design, and the Tableau reporting that sits on top of them. I joined in 2024 as a trainee analyst and now lead this work as a Senior Business Analyst.

I studied Civil Engineering at IIT Guwahati, but spent most of it somewhere else — building the vision stack for our Mars rover team, competing in Inter-IIT ML contests, and eventually writing a thesis on state and parameter estimation for stochastic systems on Riemannian manifolds. That thesis is where my current interests come from.

These days I’m working toward research in robotics and learning for control — specifically the estimation side: how systems infer their own state under noise, and how learned policies hold up when that estimate is wrong. I reimplement papers in this area and write up what I find, including the parts that don’t reproduce. Those writeups are on the blog, and the code is in projects.
